Este tema estuvo a punto de ser retirado de la competición ya que el Primer Ministro israelí, que entonces era Isaac Shamir (perteneciente al partido del Likud), dijo que el tema no era digno de representar al Estado de Israel. Eso en el fondo les dio más publicidad, y algo parecido pasará con otros artistas hebreos, como Dana International en 1998 o Ping Pong en 2000.
Nathan Datner & Avi Kushnir además de cantantes eran actores y humoristas de fama en su país. Su "loca" actuación en Bruselas no dejó indeferente a nadie, rompiéndo un poco moldes, y abriendo las puertas a las canciones más banales que de calidad en sí, con escenografía impactante para su época.

La Final israelí se celebró el 1 de abril de 1987 desde el Cinerama de Tel-Aviv. Presentó Yoram Arbel y Yardena Arazi. Yardena representó a su país en 1976 y lo hará en 1988, además de ser la presentadora también del Festival de 1979.
La canción ganadora fue escogida por los votos de ocho jurados regionales más un jurado que estaba formado por los asistentes a la gala en el Cinerama que también daban su voto al tema preferido.
Destaca en la Final Izhar Cohen, ganador del Festival en 1978 y representante de su país también en 1985.
